About Parenting With Purpose

Parenting With Purpose is a Minnesota- based 501(c) 3 non-profit organization founded by Paul and Lori Strong in 1995 to break the cycle of intergenerational crime.  PWP matches children of prisoners with caring adult mentors, teaches parenting classes to incarcerated parents, and provides life skills training designed for the spouse or caregiver(s) of the children.  Through sharing the love of God, PWP has been able to bring healing and restoration to over 2,600 families in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area that have been affected by the incarceration of a parent.

The Need

• There are over 10,000 children in Minnesota with an incarcerated parent.
• Children of incarcerated parents are seven times more likely to become criminals before the turn age 17.
• Today 1 in ever 100 American adults is currently incarcerated – the highest incarceration rate in our nation’s history.
